Sarah Barham, LSWHello! I'm thrilled that you are considering taking a step toward healing and self-care, and I'd be honored to join you on your journey. I am an Aurora University graduate with a Master’s Degree in Social Work who has dedicated much of my adult life to working with the youth of the community. I also have many years of experience responding to trauma for all age groups and am dedicated to helping people navigate life’s challenges so they are not defined by their struggles, and so they can live the life they want to.
Through the use of psychotherapy and evidence-based interventions like CBT and DBT, I treat trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, difficult life transitions, ADHD, teen and young adult issues, parent-teen relational problems, stress and anger management problems, and mood dysregulation disorders. I also am excited to add that I am now a Brainspotting Practitioner! With this life-changing, trauma-informed approach to therapy, I can help you permanently recover from chronic or acute trauma and emotionally sensitive life events. It has positively changed my life and I believe it can change yours, too! More about me....I am an LGBTQ+ ally and a Domestic Violence-trained professional. My approach is warm, energetic and welcoming, and I work with children, teens and adults in both in-person or virtual sessions. I have been a first responder my entire adult life, which gives me a unique perspective on human behavior and suffering, emotions, resiliency and our brain and body's amazing ability to heal. What about you? If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, depressed, irritable, anxious, defeated, afraid, uncertain, or alone, call me. Or do you need help with relationships or sleep hygiene or stress management? I'm here to help. I am eager to learn about your individual needs and goals so that together we can improve your quality of life. This quote by Ashleigh Warner lays the foundation of my approach to therapy: “Beneath every behavior there is a feeling, and beneath each feeling, there is a need. When we meet that need rather than focusing on the behavior, we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom.” |
