Michelle A. Green, LCSWThough I have quite a common name, I strive to provide mental health, mediation and coaching services that are beyond ordinary. As the owner of Midway Mediation & Counseling, LLC, it is my mission to make you feel welcomed, seen, respected and accepted from our very first contact.
As a therapist, I offer compassionate and genuine guidance and support through research-based interventions, including the incredibly powerful Brainspotting approach to treating traumas and nearly any kind of emotional or behavioral dysregulation. I also am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Strategic and Structural Family Therapy, Multi-Systemic Family Therapy (MST), Play Therapy, Emotion-Focused Individual Therapy (EFiT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness-Based practices and therapy, biofeedback techniques, and Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). I aim to create effective therapeutic alliances with clients that allow me to use a balanced approach of what I call pushing with permission and genuine empathy to help clients move past difficult life hurdles. If you are feeling anxious, distraught, overwhelmed, exhausted, lost, afraid, uncertain, dysregulated, stressed or just unlike yourself, I can help you to pivot. Pivoting brings new perspectives, and new perspectives bring relief. As a mediator with more than a thousand successful divorce mediations completed, I have the ability to help you effectively negotiate with the other parent even when it seems that all options for resolution have been exhausted. It is this determination and a staunch belief in empowering parents, rather than the courts, to make decisions for their children that gets lasting results. I also understand how mentally and emotionally draining the divorce process can be and how frustrating it can be to try to communicate with someone when one or both are angry, hurt, sad or indifferent. As a divorce and co-parenting coach, my expertise in recognizing and disarming negative emotions allows for true, successful, interest-based negotiations that really get to the heart of the matter so you can move on with your lives with some peace of mind. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), an LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC allied therapist, a Certified Brainspotting Therapist, and a McHenry County Court-approved family mediator with 25 years of experience providing quality, ethical clinical and mediation services. I also am a member of the McHenry County Family Mediation Advisory Council. My passions outside of mental health and wellness include outdoor recreation like camping, boating, hiking, biking; home redesign and remodeling and keeping up with my two college-aged sons. I look forward to getting to know you, too! |
